Some Mac users may meet the alert message "App can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" if their Mac OS is 10.8, OS X Mountain Lion. Since OS X Mountain Lion released, Apple has integrated a new security feature to prevent the unverified app from being launched, this new feature sames as the Microsoft's SmartFilter, we can call GateKeeper. However, this security feature does not mean you can't run the unverified application, you are allowed to have options to temporarily skirt the security blanket of GateKeeper or close the app entirely at once. The alert message shows like below:
“MagicDVDCopier.app” can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
You should know this alert message is only to suggest you make your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers. But if you download app from Internet, which app has not already listed and verified by Apple, you will always meet this issue if you want to run such kind of programs. And now, Magic DVD Ripper version 2.0.2 and Magic Mac Copier version 1.5 have been verified by Apple and are compatible with OS X Mountain Lion). If the version you use below this, you may have issues to install the programs, and in the following we will give you suggestion to fix the problem that message pop-up as "MagicDVDCopier.app can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer". While the fast and direct way to fix this problem is to update Magic Program. However, if you do not want to upgrade at present, the below optional ways you can also use to fix this issue.
Option 1: Temporarily Bypass “App Can't Be Opened ...” Alert Message
We strongly recommend you to add Magic DVD apps in the whitelist. However, you are probably to have an option to bypass this alert temporarily:
1. Right-click (or control-click) the application in question and choose “Open”.
2. Click the “Open” button at the next dialog warning to launch the app anyway.
Besides Magic Mac apps, you can also use this method to launch other third party app that gives you this warning dialog.
Option 2: Disable GateKeeper’s Unidentified App Prevention Completely
If you are tired of constantly allow apps open by right-clicking in this way, you can return to return to pre-Mountain Lion levels of app security and disable the Gatekeeper functionality completely.
But this method is generally a better choice only for advanced users who know what apps to trust and not to trust, but frankly, Magic mac apps including Magic DVD Ripper and Copier, definitely must be trusted here.
1. Launch System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Choose “Security & Privacy” and then click the “General” tab, followed by clicking the lock icon in the corner to unlock the settings.
3. Look for “Allow applications downloaded from:” and choose “Anywhere”.
4. Accept the security warning and allow.
5. You can now launch Magic Mac apps or any other apps from any location or developers.
